Pointers erupt late to get win over Vikings

AID — It was a good game for four innings and then the South Point Pointers decided to change all that.
Leading 5-4, the Pointers erupted for 11 runs over the next two innings and beat the Symmes Valley Vikings 15-4 in six innings on Tuesday.
Trailing 4-3, the Pointers got a run in the fourth to tie the game.
Beau Taylor singled and Elijah Adams sacrificed pinch-runner Drew Smith to second base. Max Tabor then doubled home the run.
The Pointers got seven hits including doubles by Logan Wade and Brody Blackwell in a six-run fifth inning to lead 10-4.
South Point had six more hits to go with three walks in a five-run sixth inning to extend the lead to 15-4.
South Point (6-1) took a 2-0 lead in the first when Tabor reached on a dropped third strike, Tanner Hall got a two-out walk and Jonathan Henline reached on an error.
Symmes Valley (4-5) tied the game in the bottom of the inning on singled by Laykin Gothard and Payton Hayes and a double by Nick Klaiber.
The Pointers went up 3-2 in the top of the third when Hall reached on an error after walks to Douglas Shaffer and Wade.
The Vikings took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Gothard was safe on an error, Chayden Renfroe walked and Klaiber singled in a run. An error on the play allowed another run to score.
Henline went the distance to get the win. He struck out 11 and walked four.
Renfroe went the first 4.1 innings and took the loss. He struck out four, walked five and only four of the seven runs he allowed were earned.
On Wednesday, South Point hosts Rock Hill and the Vikings visit Western.
