Items collected for multiple truck trips to Texas

HANGING ROCK — Donations are still being collected locally for Houston, Texas and parts of the country affected by Hurricane Harvey.

A box truck is set up at BWC Trucking on Ohio Route 650 just off the Hanging Rock exit of U.S. Route 52.

The effort is being coordinated with Prestera Trucking of South Point.

Beth Pugh, with BWC, said donations have been coming in since the truck arrived Thursday.

“It’s going along great,” she said. “We’ve had a lot from individuals and a lot of places are asking us for time to gather things.”

As far as needs, she said they have received plenty of bottled water, and are looking for things such as diapers, baby food, baby wipes and non-perishable food items.

Blankets, sheets and cleaning supplies are also needed.

Items for pets, such as dog and cat food, leashes, litter and boxes, transportation crates and towels are also being taken.

Items can be dropped off at the trucking company from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Cash donations are also accepted and will be used to purchase items.

Pugh said the company hopes to fill another truck and make a return trip once this truck is filled.

She said donations would be collected until about Wednesday, when the first truck departs, but items for the next truck will continue to be accepted.
