CHESAPEAKE — Fall is here and it’s time once again for Octoberfest in the village of Chesapeake.

This year’s event is set for Saturday, Oct. 14, and festivities will kick off at 9 a.m. at Triangle Park, according to Dick Gilpin, chair of the Chesapeake Area Citizens Coalition, who has organized the annual event for more than two decades.

“Opening ceremonies will be at 9 a.m. and the fire parade will begin at 11 a.m.,” Gilpin said.

Admission to the event is free and food, entertainment and vendors will be on hand.

A car show will take place behind the adjacent car wash.

“We’ll also have civic groups, giving out information, and churches will be selling things,” Gilpin said.

Gilpin said there will also be inflatables for children, which will have an entry fee.
