CHESAPEAKE — It’s been a good week for the Chesapeake Lady Panthers. It’s been pretty good for Karli Davis, too.
Davis scored 18 points to help lead the Lady Panthers to their third win in three games this week as Chesapeake beat the Portsmouth Lady Trojans 52-19 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
“We played three games this week and (Davis) had one heck of a week. She scored in double figures in all three games and she played her tail off on both ends of floor,” said Lady Panthers’ coach Chris Ball.
“Her length causes problems on defense. She’s gaining confidence with her shooting. It’s nice to see her coming into her own and being a threat on both ends of the floor.”
Natalee Hall also had a big game for Chesapeake with 16 points, 12 rebounds and four assists.
Davis had seven rebounds while Brooke Webb blocked five shots and Maddie Ward got six rebounds and three assists for the Lady Panthers (9-7, 6-3).
Jasmine Eley scored 12 points for Portsmouth.
Davis hit a 3-pointer and scored eight points in the first quarter as the Lady Panthers took a 13-0 lead.
Eley had four points in the second quarter as Portsmouth cut the deficit to 18-10 at the half.
Davis scored four more points in the third quarter and Chesapeake extended its lead to 29-16.
Hall scored eight points in the fourth quarter including 4-of-4 from the foul line as Chesapeake outscored Portsmouth 23-3.
On Monday, Chesapeake visits Ironton and Portsmouth goes to Fairland.
