Snowy Saturday doesn’t stop all holiday activities

It was snowy and cold on Saturday, but that did not stop two local churches from enjoying the first week of spring and celebrating Easter.

Central Christian Church in Ironton hosted an Egg-Stravanganza, featuring an indoor egg hunt, inflatables and food.

“We do this annually,” Taylor Parnell, children’s director for the church, said. “We start with a devotion to tell them what Easter is all about.”

She said the event drew families from the church’s congregation, as well as the community.

Will Perdue, minister for the church, said the event had one big goal.

“We’re trying to share Jesus with them,” he said. “The candy is a great draw, but we’re here to share the Lord.”

Meanwhile, across the river, at Faith Christian Assembly in Flatwoods, church members were hosting a spring bazaar.

About a dozen vendors from the community were invited to set up inside, selling crafts, jewelry and other items, while hot dogs were served.

The cost to book a table raised funds for the church’s youth activities.

The church hosts a bazaar twice a year, with another set for December.
