Lizetta Caldwell

Jan. 3, 1934 — April 4, 2018

Lizzetta M. Caldwell, 84, born on Jan. 3, 1934, to the late Emil O. Schuchardt Sr. and Garnet G. Moats.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Paul E. Caldwell; twin sister, Henrietta Woods; sister, Donna Jo McNeil; brother, Emil O. Schuchardt Jr.; two adult children, a daughter, Patricia Dean, and her son, Paul “David” Caldwell. Patti’s four babies: Kimberly and Jennifer New, and Richard and Patrick Dean; and several others, including a niece and nephew, cousins and grandparents, Noah and Elizabeth Sanders.
Lizzetta is survived by her son, Walter “Brian” Caldwell, of Columbus; children, Daniel, Aaron, Hazel and Denizhen “Grant” Caldwell; and her daughter, Theresa “Creasie” (Kyle) Watkins, of Columbus; a brother, Bill (Glenda) Moats, of Hope, Indiana; a sister, Sue Pauley, of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews, and family and friends in Southern Ohio.
A special honorary sister and brother-adopted by the family is Kenny and Louise Holcomb and their family. We love our family and as we call it; extended FRAMILY. Lizzetta was a member of the Worthington Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Lizzetta gave her heart to the Lord when she was just six years old. As a teenager, she, her mother and her twin sister formed a trio and sang at many of the churches in the Mercerville and Gallia County area.
Lizzie loved to lift her voice in praises to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. She even took lessons to play the organ at the church, as she wanted to do her best for the Lord. Lizzetta taught a six-year-old girls Sunday School class, Then, later, an adult special needs class. To impart God’s Holy words into people is what she had a true passion for.
She taught her four children the phrase “What would Jesus Do?” way before it was popular. In around 1970, or after the birth of her fourth child, David, was born with Downs Syndrome, Lizzetta and Paul E. were asked to participate in a panel open discussion to describe and help new doctors understand the strengths and weaknesses and share, where as parents, the challenges families faced daily.
Lizzetta worked at Columbus Psychiatric Hospital in 1955, then worked at Columbus Developmental Center as a medical typist. Later, when her job was about to be abolished, she received a call from the Bureau of Workers Compensation asking her to come in for an interview. She was able to retire in 1998 with 30 years in with the State of Ohio. Lizzetta’s life wasn’t always easy, but Lizzie did not complain. She would simply say “OK,” look to God praying always, then looking for solutions to whatever life was handing her. Individuals watched her in amazement.
She was her husband’s treasure to love and keep forever; their love would survive. Every time she looked at her rings, the symbol of their love and token, if you will, Lizzetta remembered in fondness and love their vows. One last time, as we look at her rings during her hospital stay, we removed those rings one last time.
Lizzetta left this world on April 4, 2018, knowing we will meet again. We have hope because of Christ Jesus, living in our hearts. Apostle Paul wrote it best: IICor. 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Forever, Gracious, Loving God. We Praise You for taking care of Lizzetta, now, and forever resting in Your loving arms. In Jesus Name, We Pray, Amen.
Family will welcome guests from 4-7 p.m. today at the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway with the Order of the Eastern Star service following the visitation.
There will be a brief visitation at the church before the funeral from 9-10 a.m. Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pleasantview Baptist Church, Grove City, with the Rev. John Dunn presiding. Alan Hartford Unrue, 68, of Ironton, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Russell, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Jo Unrue.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Old Oak Springs United Baptist Church, Ashland, Kentucky. Burial will follow in Holbrook Family Cemetery, Ironton. Steve Robinson

Steve Robinson, 47, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Sunday, April 1, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Adaline Robinon.

Phyllis Lee Poynter, 89, of Chesapeake, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018.
