PEDRO — The bats were silent on Monday. They were rather loud on Wednesday.
After losing 2-1 at Gallipolis on Monday, the Rock Hill Redmen bounced back with 17 hits as they beat the Blue Devils 13-8 on Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Rock Hill (7-1, 5-1) was by Logan Hankins who went 3-5 with three runs batted in and Cody Lewis who went 3-5 with a double.
Kadin France was 3-4 with a double, Jake Blagg 2-5 and an RBI while Kaleb Kidd was 2-4 and two RBI.
“We hit the ball well. Everyone in the lineup had a hit. Cody and Logan hit the ball well,” said Redmen coach Barry Litteral.
“We were sluggish early, but we came out of it and we just kept chipping away. We didn’t try to get it all back at once.”
Hankins went the distance for the win. He struck out eight, walked three and allowed just six hits.
“Logan struggled for an inning, but he came out of it and threw the ball well,” said Littleral.
Gallipolis scored six runs in the second inning when they got four hits and two walks.
The Blue Devils added an unearned run in the third on a sacrifice fly by Cole Davis after Dylan Smith reached on an error.
But Rock Hill put together its own six-run rally in the bottom of the third.
Blagg doubled and Lewis and Kidd singled for a run. Hankins singled for a run, France singled for two runs, Bacorn singled, Landon Smith walked and Kyle Stanfield singled in a run.
The Redmen took the lead with three runs in the fourth.
Lewis doubled and Kidd had an RBI single. Hankins singled, Bacorn walked, Smith was hit by a pitch for a run and Stanfield squeezed a run home.
Gallipolis got a run in the fifth to make it 9-8 but the Redmen came back with four runs in the bottom of the inning.
Nichols walked, Lewis reached on an error, Hankins singled, France doubled and Smith singled.
Rock Hill visits Chesapeake on Friday.
