Lady Pointers upset Lady Oaks in sectional, 5-2

OAK HILL — The South Point Lady Pointers are unbeaten in the second season.
South Point opened the Division III sectional tournament on Tuesday with a 5-2 upset win over the Oak Hill Lady Oaks.
The Lady Pointers — the 11th seed — will be the underdog again as they play at 5 p.m. on Friday at No. 4-seed Coal Grove in the sectional finals.
The game was scoreless until South Point got two runs in the top of the fourth.
Lakin Adkins and Keianna Conwell singled, Abby Hannah walked and Sara Allen delivered a two-run single.
Oak Hill (13-13) got a run in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Kailey Adkins after Caitlyn Brisker reached on a three-base error with one out.
The Lady Pointers (5-14) got the run back in the fifth when Jill Aylsworth walked, Adkins singled off the fence and Conwell had a run-scoring double.
South Point made it 5-1 with two runs in the sixth.
Allen singed and moved up on an outfield error. Holly Ramey then reached on an error to score Allen and Aylsworth singled to drive home courtesy runner Kara Taylor.
Oak Hill got a run in the bottom of the seventh on back-to-back singles by Timea Burnett and Tamron McCain and a two-out RBI bloop single by Andrea Lewis.
Lakin Adkins went 3-3, Conwell 2-4, Allen 2-3 with two RBI and Aylsworth 2-3 and an RBI as South Point had nine hits.
Ramey went the distance to get the win as she struck out seven, walked one, allowed six hits and one earned run.
