$10 permit fee waived

Next Saturday, Ironton will have another citywide yard sale and the permit fee will be waived.

This is the third one this year. The first time residents could set up at the Ironton Farmers Market and the second time, it was just at residences. This time, people can set up at home or at the Farmers Market Square. Sellers don’t have to pay a $10 city permit fee.

“We decided to have this one at both, so if you like you can bring your treasures to the farmers market at 8 a.m. and you will be given space to sell,” said Sam Heighton, executive director of Ironton aLive. “If you would rather have the convenience of selling at your home, you can do that. There is no fee for either place.”

People will need to sign an agreement at the market requiring them to remain with their items and that they will remove all unsold items by 4 p.m. when the event ends.

The Farmers Market will open as usual at 7 a.m. on Saturday and besides the offering of produce, flowers and homemade goods, the parking lot and on Bobby Bare Boulevard will be open for yard sales.

As a reminder, people having yard sales are not allowed to post signs on utility poles and on city right-of-ways, since it is against city ordinance. The signs will be removed.
