A trial date has been set for a man accused of holding up an Ironton bar and injuring two people in the process.

David W. Farris, 51, of Flatwoods, Ky., will stand trial Jan. 14 in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court before Judge Charles Cooper.

Farris was arrested Oct. 21 after he allegedly held up the Marlow Grill and assaulted a bar tender and a patron there. He was arrested a short time later because people at the bar recognized him.

A Feb. 8 trial date has been set for James H. Robinson, 41, of 121 S. Eighth St., Ironton, who faces six counts of sexual battery and six counts of rape involving two girls under the age of 15.

Robinson was initially indicted on the rape charges and then a month later on the battery charges. Both sets of charges involve the same victims and the same incidents.

The jury has the choice not only of guilt or innocence but whether Robison is guilty of the lesser or more severe of the charges.

In other matters, Meaghan Russell, 25, of 3571 County Road 120, South Point, pleaded guilty to two counts of complicity to aggravated trafficking in drugs and one count of aggravated trafficking in drugs.

Judge D. Scott Bowling will sentence her Jan. 6.

Cole Friend, 22, 366 Big Doney Road, Ironton, pleaded guilty to one count of theft.

Bowling sentenced him to 11 months in prison and ordered him to pay $1,500 in restitution.

David R. Lynd, 30, 2409 S. Eighth St., Ironton, admitted he violated his probation by failing to report to his probation officer and testing positive for drug use. Bowling sentenced him to 8 months in prison.
