Results will aid children

You’ve seen them out and about, dressed in bib overalls and entertaining crowds with their ramshackle trucks.

But the Ironton outhouse of the El Hasa Shriner hillbillies have been doing much more than being a spectacle at parades.

The group has worked hard, through fundraising events, like hot dog sales, school penny drives, raffles tickets and others activities to raise funds from the public for the Shriners children’s hospital.

Last week, the group presented a $30,000 check to the Lexington orthopedic hospital, the result of two years of fundraising around the Tri-State.

All money the group raises goes to the hospitals and the tansportation fund to take children and their families to the facilities.

We commend the group for their dedication to this cause and are proud of the citizens of Lawrence County and the surrounding area for their generosity.

And, knowing the commitments of the hillbillies, the collection efforts will only continue in generating funds to help this good cause.

It was a job well done.
