WILLOW WOOD — Now that’s a dramatic ending.
In a game that went four overtimes, the Northwest Mohawks outlasted the Symmes Valley Vikings 32-26 in a Southern Ohio Conference game on Friday, the season finale for both teams.
“I thought our kids left everything on the field. Our effort was tremendous. We had opportunities but we couldn’t capitalize,” said Vikings’ coach Rusty Webb.
“I thank our seniors for their leadership and effort and we wish them our best.”
Symmes Valley (4-6, 1-5) ran the ball 71 times for 357yards and had 378 total yards along with 23 first downs.
Keifer Wilson ran 31 times for 141 yards and caught two passes for 21 yards. Josh Ferguson had 131 yards on 15 carries and Jack Leith 53 yards on 18 tries.
However, they fumbled nine times in the rain and lost three.

The Vikings went up 7-0 in the second quarter on a 1-yard run by Leith. Gavin Yates kicked the conversion.
Northwest scored on a 68-yard run by Brayden Campbell in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 7-6.

After recovering a Northwest fumble, the Vikings went up 20-6 on a 4-yard run by Ferguson.
But Nathan Rivers ran 6 yards and Evan Throckmorton’s kick closed the gap to 20-13.
The Mohawks recovered the onside kickoff and Campbell got loose on a 50-yard run to tie the game.
Neither team scored in the first and second overtimes, but then Rivers went 6 yards and it was 26-20.
The Vikings tied the game on a 1-yard run by Wilson.
Symmes Valley fumbled on its possession in the fourth overtime and the Mohawks ended the game on a 2-yard run by Rivers.
