Ruth Hooper

Ruth H. Hooper, 100, of South Point, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at Trinity Station, Flatwoods, Kentucky. Mrs. Hooper was born Sept. 3, 1918, in Henderson County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Scarlet and Sylvia (Bryant) Haskins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Malcom D. Hooper, on Dec. 14, 1976.
Mrs. Hooper was a graduate of Indiana University and was a retired registered nurse for the Lawrence County Health Department. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Point.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dennise Buckles on April 21, 2018.
She is survived by her daughter, Scarlette (Robert) Wendt; son-in-law, Daniel Buckles; and four grandchildren, Michelle Wendt, Gregory Wendt, Kristopher Buckles and Kelli Cobb.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, with pastor Mike Huff officiating. There will be no public visitation and Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
