CHESAPEAKE — Meat Loaf never wrote a song called “Three Out of Four Ain’t Bad.”
The Chesapeake Panthers held the Lucasville Valley Indians to single digit scoring in three of the four quarters as they notched a 52-41 win on Saturday.
The other quarter was like something from the Twilight Zone as Valley outscored the Panthers 26-14 to get within three points.
But Chesapeake recovered and began to pull away to the 11-point win.
Chesapeake (6-2) took a 14-3 first quarter lead as Tylan Hutchison had four points and both Nathan Cox and Levi Blankenship hit 3-pointers.
The Panthers limited the Indians to eight points in the second quarter and took a 26-11 halftime lead. Hutchison had six more points in the quarter.
The Indians (4-6) erupted in the third quarter as they cut the deficit to 40-37.
Andrew Shope had 11 points including three 3-point goals, Kayden Mollette hit a 3-pointer and scored five points and Mason Zaler also had five points.
The Panthers got treys from Travis Grim and Blankenship while Eli Archer scored four points to help keep the lead.
The defense returned and limited Valley to only four points in the fourth quarter with Hutchison and Grim scoring four points each for Chesapeake.
Hutchison finished with 14 points, Blankenship 10, Gain nine and Archer eight to lead a balance Chesapeake offense.
Shope had 14 points and Mollette 11 for the Indians.
Chesapeake hosts Portsmouth on Friday.
