Simmons named general manager of The Tribune

Sarah Simmons, a native of Lawrence County, has been named general manager of Ironton Publications, Inc. and its products, which include The Ironton Tribune, The Chesapeake Tribune, The Proctorville Tribune, Tri-State Living Magazine and related digital products.

“Lawrence County and this area are my home, I am personally invested in this community and the people who make it such a wonderful place to live and raise a family,” she said. “I am committed to doing my part in helping this area grow as we serve our audience with compelling and trustworthy news while providing businesses here affordable and comprehensive marketing opportunities.”

For the past three years, Simmons, 31, has served as the company’s marketing and community outreach coordinator. Simmons graduated from St. Joseph Central Catholic in Ironton in 2005, earned a Bachelor of Appalachian Studies from Ohio University Southern in Ironton in 2015 and a Certification in Rural Economic Development in 2017 and 2018 from Berea College in Berea, Kentucky.

She is involved in several civic groups including the Lawrence County Recovery Coalition, the Ashland Alliance Young Professionals Association and is the treasurer of Elks Lodge 177 in Ironton. She has a daughter, Olive Simmons, who is six years old.

Simmons replaces Scott Schmeltzer, who recently accepted a new job in Cannon Falls, Minnesota as an advertising director in order to be closer to his family.
