Margarett Tinkham

April 20, 1939 — Jan. 30, 2019

Margarett Ann Tinkham, 79, of South Point and Northern California, was ushered into Heaven on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, from The Village at Riverview in Barboursville, West Virginia. She was born April 20, 1939, in Pikeville, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John and Ella Buckley. She was a graduate of South Point High School, Class of 1957.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, James Buckley, and his wife, Evelyn; and two brothers-in-law, Wayne Clinton and William Gibson.
She is survived by her husband, Lester “Les” Tinkham; one daughter, Cynthia Bjerklie, of Dorchester, New Hampshire; two sisters, Luthella Clinton, of Ironton, and Patty Gibson, of Wyandotte, Michigan; one granddaughter, Amanda Ford; and two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Charlotte Ford.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, West Virginia, by the Rev. Larry L. Barker Jr. and the Rev. Gavin Napier. Burial will be private in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point.

Kenneth Ackison

June 11, 1936 — Feb. 5, 2019

Kenneth J. Ackison, 82, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019 at East Gate Manor in Washington, Indiana.
The Lawrence County native was born June 11, 1936, the son of the late Joe H. and Wilma Mae Bailey Ackison. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Moore Ackison, whom he married April 2, 1955.
Mr. Ackison was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1974. He was a member of the Kelley’s Bridge Independent Church and the DAV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela S. Simmons; two sons, Timothy A. Ackison and Jay Acksion; a sister, Catherene Shaw; two brothers, Fredrick Eugene Scior and Tom Ackison; two grandchildren, Alicia Simmons and R.J. Simmons; and a great grandchild, Waylon Reavis.
He is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Bill) Newland, of Washington, Indiana; two brothers, Donald R. Scior, of Ironton, and Ralph (Gertrude) Ackison, of Kokomo, Indiana; a sister, Freda Ackison, of Pedro; six grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. 7th St., Ironton, with Bro. John Blankenship officiating.
Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post  8850 and visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

William Jordan

Aug. 10, 1935 — Feb. 6, 2019

William Edward Jordan, 83, of South Point, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019 at UK Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born Aug. 10, 1935 in Lorain. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mayre Rousch Jordan; one son, Harold Samuel Jordan and one brother, Richard Jordan.
Survivors include his four daughters, Karen Jean Hawk, Linda Banbury, Cherie Jordan and Amiee Branham; William E. Jordan, Jr., Edward M. Jordan and Douglas Jordan; one sister, Sandra Angles and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the American Legion Post 433, 310 S. 3rd St., Ironton, with a Dedication Ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Military graveside services will be held 1 p.m. the following Friday, Feb. 15 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast, Grayson, Kentucky. Funeral procession will leave Slack and Wallace Funeral Home at noon.
