NELSONVILLE — The Nelsonville Music Festival has announced two more headliners.

Legendary R&B and gospel singer Mavis Staples will headline the festival’s final day on Sunday, June 9.

Staples, 80, is best known as lead singer of family band the Staples Singers, whose 1960s hits included “I’ll Take You There” and “Express Yourself.”

In the past decade, she has released a series of acclaimed solo albums produced by M. Ward and Jeff Tweedy of Wilco.

The festival will also feature alternative rock band The Breeders, who will headline Friday, June 7.

Led by Kim Deal, previously of The Pixies, and her sister, Kelley Deal, the band’s biggest hit was “Cannonball” from the 1994 album “Last Splash.”

The line-up of that album recently reunited and released the album “All Nerve” in 2018.

Previously announced acts for the festival include Death Cab For Cutie, Tyler Childers, The Oh Sees and Todd Snider.

The festival, in its 15th year, will run from June 6-9 on the campus of Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio.
