ASHLAND — Heartburn is a very common condition, with 20 percent of people experiencing it weekly. Many times, diet is the biggest culprit. However, when people experience a burning sensation in the throat or chest every other day, regardless of diet, or it is accompanied by cough or chest pain, it could be an esophageal disorder, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or Barrett’s esophagus.

Ashlee Eichenlaub, APRN, and Greg Moore, PA, of King’s Daughters Gastroenterology are now offering a heartburn walk-in clinic from 1-4 p.m. every Monday, no appointment needed.

The clinic is recommended for those 16 and older suffering from frequent heartburn; pain or difficulty swallowing; ongoing, unexplained cough, sore throat, or hoarseness; or coughing or choking when lying down.
