Barbara Cunningham

Feb. 14, 1953 – Sept. 12, 2019

Barbara L. Cunningham, 66, of Ironton, passed away, Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, in Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky.

Mrs. Cunningham was born Feb. 14, 1953, a daughter to the late Walter William and Mary Louise (Vaughn) Stewart. She is survived by her husband, David Eugene Cunningham.

Barbara was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and was a financial officer for the Lawrence County Health Department for 39 years. She retired in 2015.

Barbara was a wonderful artist, homemaker and an excellent cook. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. She was of the Christian faith.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by two sons, Eric Charles Cunningham and Brian Lee Cunningham, both of Ironton; two sisters, Rebecca S. Harper, of Ironton and Nancy C. Anderson, of Ravenna, Kentucky; two brothers-in-law, Charles J. Harper, of Ironton, and John Anderson, of Ravenna, Kentucky; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends who will miss her.

Funeral services will be noon Saturday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton, with Pastor Tom Lawson and Pastor John Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jerry Southers

Sept. 13, 2019  – Oct. 24, 1937

Jerry Lee Southers, 81, passed away Sept. 13, 2019 at Pine Lake Nursing Home in Carthage, North Carolina.

He was born in Ironton, Oct. 24, 1937, the son of the late Dovel Southers and Gladys (Massie) Anderson, and was a graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeannine (Snyder) Southers of Southern Pines, North Carolina; son, Darin Southers, of Aberdeen, North Carolina; daughter, Nina Drinko, of Coshocton; grandson, Morgan (Charli) Landis, of West Lafayette; three step-grandchildren, Aliyah, Adison and Pyper Guthrie; brothers, George and Danny Joseph, and sister, Janet Maxwell, all of Ironton.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Southers; a son, Devin Southers; and a son-in-law, Deaver Drinko.

Fry and Prickett Funeral Home of Carthage, North Carolina, are handling arrangements. Per his wishes with Marshall University, is to have his body donated to science.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Terry Lowe

Terry Randall Lowe, 69, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, in U.K. Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky.

Maxine Whitley

Maxine Whitley, 91 of Chesapeake, died Monday Sept. 16, 2019 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Rome Cemetery in Proctorville. Visitation will be 10-10:45 a.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ehallfuneralhome.com.

Johnny Marcum Jr.

 Johnny “John” Arthur Marcum, Jr., 49, of South Point, died, Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019 at home.

Funeral services will be noon Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Friends may visit from 11 a.m.-noon before the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Crescent Hill Cemetery, Ceredo, West Virginia.

Rebecca Holstein

Rebecca “Miss Becky” Holstein, 47, of Ironton, died on Monday Sept. 9, 2019 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.

She is survived by her husband, David Holstein.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the City Mission Church, 710 N. Fifth St., Ironton, with Rev. Jeff Cremeans. Burial will follow in Hanging Rock Cemetery and visitation will be noon until time of the service at the church on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rebecca’s name to Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, Ohio 45638, to help with funeral expenses.

Odell Williams

Odell Williams, 82, of Kitts Hill, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2019 at his residence.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Heaberlin Williams.

Odell lived most of his life in Kitts Hill and was a graduate of Rock Hill High School.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Pastor Ryan McKee and Pastor John Paul Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Mamre Cemetery, Kitts Hill.

Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice or Mamre Cemetery.

Mackenizie Plybon

Mackenizie “Mack” Ryan Plybon, 32, of South Point, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019. Funeral service, officiated by Pastor Gordon Simpson, will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Wayne, West Virginia. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
