Panthers rout Blue Devils

CHESAPEAKE — The Chesapeake Panthers were back in their runnin’ and gunnin’.
The Panthers bounced back from Tuesday’s loss at rival Fairland by cruising past the Gallipolis Blue Devils 70-34 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Friday.
The Panthers (9-1, 5-1) used a balanced attack as all nine players scored led by Levi Blankenship with 15 points and Josh Cox with 13. Travis Grim, Trent Dearth and Jacob Lemley had 8 points each.
Damon Cremeans got 9 points for Gallipolis (3-8, 1-5).
Dearth and Cox had 4 points each while Blankenship and Dilen Caldwell hit 3-pointers as Chesapeake took an 18-9 first quarter lead.
Blankenship hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 8 points with Austin Jackson and Grim get 4 points each in the second quarter and the lead grew to 40-17 at the half.
The Panthers continued to pull away as the lead reached 56-28 after three quarters. Cox scored 6 points and Dearth and Blankenship had 4 each in the quarter.
Isaac Clary and Cemeans had 4 points each for Gallipolis.
Lemley came off the bench in the fourth quarter to score all 8 of his points including a pair of 3-pointers.
Chesapeake host the Beast of Southeast on Saturday and goes to South Point Tuesday.
