COAL GROVE — This wasn’t even a good shooting night at the foul line.
The Coal Grove Hornets struggled from the field and at the foul line as they lost 53-35 to the Gallipolis Blue Devils in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Tuesday.
Coal Grove (3-11, 2-7) hit only two 3-point goals and connected on just 9-of-24 foul shots.
Evan Gannon had 11 points and Malachi Wheeler 9 to pace the Hornets.
Gallipolis (7-8, 3-6) was led by Logan Blouir with a game-high 25 points. Isaac Clary added 12 points.
Gallipolis led 7-4 after the first quarter and then Blouir hit a 3-pointer and score 8 points in the second quarter to give Gallipolis a 22-13 halftime edge.
Trevor Hankins hit a 3-pointer in the second but the Hornets were just 2-of-10 from the foul line.
Blouir then scored 11 more points including another 3-pointer as Gallipolis outscored Coal Grove 21-11 in the third quarter to extend the lead to 43-24.
Gannon hit a trey and had 4 points and Wheeler added 3 points in the quarter for the Hornets.
Gannon scored 5 points and Wheeler 4 in the fourth quarter as Coal Grove outscored Gallipolis 11-10. Clary had 4 points for Gallipolis.
On Friday, Coal Grove will host Rock Hill and Gallipolis host South Point.
