SCIOTOVILLE — Drew Scherer is starting to like this scoring thing.
After a career-high 30 points on Tuesday, Scherer followed up that performance with 25 points as the Symmes Valley Vikings routed the Sciotoville East Tartans 73-36 on Friday.
Scherer was 5-of-8 from the 3-point line and 8-of-16 for the game. He also had 7 rebounds, 7 steals and 2 assists.
Jack Leith scored 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Logan Walsh hit three 3-pointers and had 10 assists while Caden Brammer had 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Luke Leith had 7 rebounds.
Austin Smith scored 11 points for East (0-16, 0-10).
The Vikings opened up a 20-10 lead in the first quarter as Scherer and Walsh each hit two 3-poiners while Leith and Brammer had 4 points each.
Scherer continued with the hot hand as he made a 3-pointer and scored 10 points.
Luke Leith scored 4 points and Walsh hit another triple and it was 43-14 at the half.
Jack Leith scored 10 points in the third quarter and Scherer had a pair of trifectas and connected on 3-of-4 free throws for 9 points as the lead went to 64-24 at the end of the third quarter.
The Vikings emptied the bench in the fourth quarter and five different plays scored.
Symmes Valley plays at Portsmouth Notre Dame Saturday night and host Portsmouth Clay next Friday.
