For $7 admission to the annual Tackett’s Body Shop Shootout, fans can watch seven games beginning at 10:30 a.m. featuring six girls’ games and ending at 8:30 p.m. with the Ironton boys facing Elliott County.
And these games are worth more than the price of admission.
Ranked teams with college-bound players fill the schedule highlight by the game between nationally ranked Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame and Huntington (W.Va.) St. Joseph two programs with trophy case full of state championships.
Mt. Notre Dame is the No. 1-ranked Division I team in Ohio while St. Joseph is the No. 1 Class A team in West Virginia.
Mt. Notre Dame features Makira Cook who is going to the University of Dayton, Grace Centrulla headed for Mercyhurst, K.K. Bransford who is the No.1 nationally ranked 2-guard in the class of 2022, and Laila Phella who is the No. 14 nationally ranked guard in the class of 2021.
St. Joseph has Bailee Adkins who is also headed to Dayton, Grace Hutson, Dionna Gray and Hannah Roberts.
The day begins with Chillicothe Huntington and All-Ohio guard Allison Bayse going against Division I power Franklin and Jordan Rogers.
At 12:10 p.m., the South Point Lady Pointers led by West Virginia Tech-bound Emilee Whitt facing West Carter, Ky., which is 12-6 and is led by Allie Stone.
The Wheelersburg Lady Pirates — ranked No. 7 in the AP Division 3 poll and led by high-scoring Kaylee Darnell — play the Russell Lady Red Devils who are now 14-6 and led by Kaell Ross, Aubrey Hill and Shaelyn Steele.
The 3:30 p.m. game has two local powers as No. 3-ranked Portsmouth Notre Dame at 17-1 and led by Ava Hassel and Taylor Schmidt going against the Ashland Kittens who are 11-6 and feature Julia Parker who is going to Pikeville and Mikayla Martin.
After the Mt. Notre Dame-St. Joseph game, the host Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers play against Lewis County, Ky., at 6:50 p.m.
Ironton is 15-3 and ranked No. 10 in the AP Division 3 poll and have two-time All-Ohio guard Lexie Arden, Urbana University-bound Riley Schreck and Samantha LaFon.
Lewis County is led by Sarah Weddington and Cheyenne D’Souza.
The schedule shifts gears for the final game at 8:30 when the Ironton boys led by Reid Carrico and Jordan Grizzle play Elliott County, Ky., who is led by Kole Whitley and Bryson Dickerson.
