A man was arrested on Monday after shots were fired in the 800 block of South Sixth Street in Ironton.

Police officers were dispatched to the area and when they arrived, they came into contact with 18-year-old Samuel Pack, of Ironton.

Pack became combative with officers and was arrested. Pack later admitted to police that he had fired several rounds in that area. He was taken to the Lawrence County Jail on a charge of discharging a firearm into a habitation, because a house was struck by his gunfire.

The investigation is continuing because several people who were on the scene fled when the police officers arrived. The gun that Pack used was not found and police believe that one of the people who fled may have the gun.

Additional charges may be filed.
