The Lawrence County Health Department says there are two test sites for coronavirus available in the Ironton area.

Angela Doyle, director of nursing for the department, said those with symptoms should first contact their primary care physician and get a viral panel or flu test.

Should a test for coronavirus be needed, she said St. Mary’s Medical Center in Ironton is doing testing. However, a physician order must be faxed to St. Mary’s before testing can be done.

Doyle said if people are sick enough, they should call the emergency room beforehand at 740-533-9710.

She said the facility would then have workers in protective equipment to come out and swab patients.

Another site doing testing is Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Doyle said this is a drive-up testing site, but those seeking a test must first call 606-408-8999 to have a nurse evaluate them. At this point, they would be triaged to the canopy area.

Doyle said testing has been ongoing in the region, but, so far, there have been no positive cases.
