WILLOW WOOD — James Rodney Myers, 44, of Willow Wood, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011, after a long battle with cancer and was surrounded by his loved ones and friends.

The Lawrence County native was born April 29, 1966, a son of James and Anna Myers of Scottown.

James was a graduate of Symmes Valley High School and was a self-employed concrete/masonry. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Perkins Ridge Church. He enjoyed playing the guitar.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Joe and Mettie Shepherd; paternal grandparents, Allen and Pearl Myers; and brother-in-law, David Brown.

In addition to his parents James is survived by fiancée, Jerri Riggle of Willow Wood;

daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Todd Shafer of Ironton; son and fiancée, Jeremy Riggle and Kristen Zollman of Willow Wood; grandson; Ethan Shafer (the love of his life);

brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Brenda Myers of Willow Wood; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Lisa Hensley of Ashland, Ky.; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Tom McGraw of Bidwell; sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Mike Carrico of Scottown; nephews, Shawn and Jackie Corn of Willow Wood, Adam and Bethanie Corn of Scottown, Shannon and Gwen McGraw of Thurman, Scottie and Samantha Myers of South Point and Michael Wilson of Willow Wood.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Perkins Ridge Church with Rev. Darrell Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Perkins Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of the service at the church. To offer condolences to the family please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
