Chesapeake used 13 walks and six hit batsmen to help fuel a 19-2 win over the Coal Grove Lady Hornets on Monday in the Division III sectional semifinals.

Conversely, Chesapeake’s Sarah Rice fired a one-hitter and walked only four to get the win. She struck out six.

Chesapeake (5-10) had seven hits with Caitlin Heffner going 2-3 with four runs batted in. Myky Harmon was 1-2 with a three-run homer. Rice walked four times while Sarah Mayo, Anna Mayo and Jordan Porter were each hit twice by a pitch.

Abby Harmon had the Lady Hornets’ only hit.

After Coal Grove got a run in the top of the first inning, Chesapeake used three walks, an RBI single by Porter and a two-run double by Ali Ransbottom to take a 4-1 lead.

Six walks, three hit batsmen and a two-run double by Heffner keyed an 8-run second inning.

Four more walks, a two-run single by Heffner and Harmon’s three-run blast generated seven runs in the third.

Chesapeake plays at Rock Hill in the sectional final at 5 p.m. on Friday. The Lady Panthers host South Point Tuesday and play River Valley on Wednesday and Thursday in Ohio Valley Conference games.
