NEW BOSTON — The St. Joseph Flyers had a big start and a big finish.

The Flyers outscored New Boston 41-18 in the first and fourth quarters combined as they beat the Tigers 68-45 in a Southern Ohio Conference game on Friday.

The Flyers had 3 players in double figures led by Drew Brown with 15 points. Eli Whaley was right behind with 14 points and Wesley Neal scored 11.

Devin Allard scored 18 and Jayse Tabor 15 to lead New Boston (2-6, 0-2).

St. Joseph (3-5, 1-0) came out firing and took a 22-13 first quarter lead.

Neal scored 9 points and Whaley knocked down a triple and scored 7 points for the Flyers.

Tabor hit a 3-pointer and scored 6 points and Colt Maynard had a trey and 2 foul shots for the Tigers.

Aiden Deborde and Evan Balestra scored 4 points each in the second quarter as each team scored 16 points and the Flyers led 38-29 at the half.

Allard scored 10 of New Boston’s 16 points in the quarter.

Each team scored 11 points in the third quarter and St. Joseph led 49-40.

Jake Stephens hit a trifecta and scored 5 points and the Flyers were 4-of-6 from the foul line in the quarter.

Tabor hit another 3-pointer and had 5 points for New Boston.

St. Joseph blew the game open in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Tigers 19-5. Carter Johnson scored 7 of his 9 points and Brown scored 6 points to pace the Flyers.

Allard was 3-of-6 from the foul line and Tyreke Lewis had a basket to account for New Boston’s scoring in the quarter.
