Brooke Hanshaw waved the big bat that broke the Chesapeake Lady Panthers’ backs as the Rock Hill Redwomen rolled to a 10-0 win in six innings on Friday in the Division III sectional finals.

Hanshaw went 3-for-4 with a triple and six runs batted in as Rock Hill collected eight hits. BreeAnna Depriest was 2-3 with a double and Sami Nixon pitched a three-hitter to trigger the win.

“Brooke Hanshaw hit well. She did an excellent job,” said Rock Hill coach Mary Jane Harper. “BreeAnna Depriest has really come on to do a good job. All the girls are coming alive. They’re all hitting well.”

Rock Hill (16-2) now plays Peebles at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Chillicothe Unioto High School.

The game was scoreless until the third inning when Rock Hill scored four times.

Haylia Gannon walked and Depriest doubled her home. Chelsea Harper singled to drive in Depriest, Hanshaw had an RBI single and Dani Crabtree doubled in a run.

Rock Hill scored four more times in the fifth inning.

Morgan Damron walked, took second on a wild pitch and Depriest singled to put runners on the corners. Harper walked to load the bases and Hanshaw blew the game open with a three-run triple. An error on the play allowed Hanshaw to score.

The final two runs scored in the sixth to end the game.

Damron started the rally with a hit and went to second on a wild pitch. Depriest walked and they both moved up on a wild pitch. With two outs, Hanshaw singled in both runners.

Rock Hill has had to regroup after losing three players. Courtney Duncan has a broken hand, Kaelynn Ellis broke her foot and Morgan Schug is out for a week with an injury.

“We’re playing some freshmen but they have stepped up and handled the pressure well,” said coach Harper.

Myky Harmon went 2-2 for the Lady Panthers (6-11).

On Monday, Rock Hill will visit Chesapeake to complete a suspended game and play a makeup game.
