NWTF banquet set for Aug. 7

GETAWAY — The South Hills chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will hold its 16th annual Hunting Heritage Super Fund Banquet on Aug. 7 at the Collins Career Center on State Route 243 at Getaway.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served until 7 p.m. when the formal program gets underway.

W.Va. hosts national transportation conference

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — More than 250 researchers, industry leaders and others are expected to participate in a national rural transportation conference this week in Huntington.

The 2010 National Rural Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference began Sunday and will continue through Wednesday at Pullman Plaza Hotel.

Sessions include implementing rural transit technology and rural road safety.

The Rahall Transportation Institute is hosting the conference.

Better Breathers group to meet Aug. 13

RUSSELL, Ky. — Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) will host a Better Breathers support group meeting at the Human Motion Vitality Center on the hospital campus Friday, Aug. 13 at noon. Better Breathers is a free support group for individuals with breathing issues.

Better Breathers provides an opportunity for those suffering from breathing issues and their family members to meet and share experiences and to ask questions and learn to develop a better quality of life. The support group provides encouragement through sharing and interaction, improves group members’ knowledge of chronic obstructive lung disease, and helps meeting attendees overcome many of the day-today difficulties of living with chronic lung disease.
