SOUTH POINT — It is a networking tool that is getting brushed off and put back into operation again by the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.

It’s Business After Hours and the chamber is hosting its first one on Monday, March 2, starting at 6 p.m.

“We are starting this again,” Bob Smith, chamber director, said.

“We used to have them a long time ago. It’s a huge opportunity for businesses to communicate and to network with other businesses in the area.”

The plan is to hold the events on a quarterly basis and Smith calls them a purely social time for the 280 members of the county’s chamber.

“It is a chance to network with fellow business associations. There will be good food. No (chamber) business will be conducted at this time and it’s a chance to get together and toot our own horns.”

The site for the first After Hours will be Engines Inc., located at The Point industrial park in South Point.

“Engines Inc. has been a tremendous partner with the chamber. They have a very cooperative spirit and they are very interested in the economic well-being of Lawrence County,” Smith said.

While the event is geared for chamber members, potential new members are also welcome to stop by and see if they would be interested in joining the organization.

“We are encouraging businesses to bring prospective members,” Smith said.

“This is just a way to get businesses more involved and let them know there are other businesses around who may be able to give advice. I am sure many businesses have been helped in the past.”
