FRANKLIN FURNACE — Lonnie Lee Elswick, 66, of Franklin Furnace, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at Fountain Head Nursing Home in Franklin Furnace, following a brief illness.

He was born Aug. 14, 1945, a son of the late Mary Alice Wilson and Edgar Elswick. Lonnie was a Vietnam-era U.S. Navy veteran and he was of the Christian faith.

He is survived by his three daughters, Carolyn Castaneda and her husband, Mariano, of Waterford, Mich., Kara Powell and her husband, Tharon, Jennifer Elswick and Bridgett Elswick, all of Dalton, Ga.; a son. Lonnie Joe Elswick of Novi, Mich.; two sisters, Carolyn Willison and her husband, Roger of Franklin Furnace and Yvonne Sue Elswick of Newark; two brothers, Mark Elswick of Chillicothe and David Lee Elswick of Florida; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Chapel, 2427 S. 11th St., Ironton. Burial will follow in Etna Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers Visitation will be noon until time of services today at the funeral chapel.
