Lady Dragons, Lady Hornets get OVC wins

SOUTH POINT — The Fairland Lady Dragons opened Ohio Valley Conference volleyball action with a straight sets victory over the South Point Lady Pointers on Tuesday.

Fairland won 25-15, 33-31 and 25-13.

Chelsey Stanley scored 15 points and twin sister Chloe Stanley had 9 points to lead Fairland.

Chandler Fulks added 7 points, Carly Riley had 5 kills and Haley Woodall racked up 10 digs.

The Lady Dragons (1-3) visit Rock Hill at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in a league game.


Coal Grove tops Lady Panthers

CHESAPEAKE — The Coal Grove Lady Hornets opened defense of their Ohio Valley Conference volleyball championship with a win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers on Tuesday.

The Lady Hornets swept the Lady Panthers in three sets, 25-14, 25-14 and 25-17.

Cheyenne Bellomy led Coal Grove with 18 points. Ashley Adkins had 9 points, Bailey Harrison had 6 points, 4 blocks, 4 kills and 4 aces.

Cami Hillier added 7 points and 4 aces for the Lady Hornets.

Chesapeake won the junior varsity match.
