Two people were arrested by the Ironton Police and the Lawrence Drug and Major Crimes Task Force on Tuesday afternoon. Police arrested Zach Abrams, 23, and Teresa Stormes, 42, both of 915 1/2 Park Ave., Ironton. Both are charged with two counts of deception to obtain dangerous drugs, a felony of the fifth degree. Both were to appear at the Ironton Municipal Court today.
According to a release from Prosecutor Brigham Anderson, Stormes called a local pharmacy for a prescription allegedly fraudulently using the name of an area doctor. The pharmacy contacted the medical office.
“Police personnel provided surveillance at the pharmacy and both subjects were
arrested at the scene when an attempt was made to pick-up the fraudulent prescription,” the release stated. “The Lawrence Drug & Major Crimes Task Force will continue their efforts to combat the prescription pill epidemic in the region.”
