Tackett’s Body Shop Shootout to feature ‘major collisions’

Tackett’s Body Shop can fix car collisions, but the company isn’t about to step in during Saturday’s collisions.
The “collisions” are between 10 teams in five games at the Tackett Body Shop Shootout in the Ironton Sports Center.
The Chesapeake Lady Panthers face Oak Hill at 11 a.m. followed by the Division III power Alexander Lady Spartans and Scott County, Ky., at 12:45 p.m. Ashland (Ky.) and No.1-ranked Cincinnati Summit Country Day at 2:30, the host Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers and Division II Circleville at 4:15 with North Adams and Minford in the 6 pm finale.
Alexander was 18-8 last season and lost to Ironton in the regional semifinals Murray State signee Leah Richardson, her sister Rachel and Jala Mace are all-district players.
Scott County is one of the top scoring teams in Kentucky with a 72.4 average per game and led by 5-10 junior guard Peyton Riddle average 20 points a game while shooting 50.6 percent.
Teammates Maaliya Owens and Morgan DeFoor average 15.9 and 13.2 points a game, respectively.
Summit Country Day is the top-ranked team in Division III with a 19-0 record and returns nine players from last year’s 20-4 team.
After going 23-3 last season and losing in the district finals to Chillicothe, Circleville is 11-6 and 7-4 in the Mid-State League Buckeye Division.
After losing their first four games, the Lady Tigers have had winning streaks of six and five games. Jordin Blakeman recently eclipsed the 1,000-point scoring milestone for her career and Morgan Bircher averages 10 points a game.
Minford is 13-5 and 10-2 in the Southern Ohio Conference. The Lady Falcons are led by Erin Daniels and 6-3 sophomore Ashley Blankenship.
North Adams is 14-3 on the season and 10-2 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference. The three losses are to Division III powers Fairland, Easgteren Brown and Lynchburg Clay.
Laykyn Hupp leads the Lady Green Devils with a 17.1 scoring average while Avery Harper scores at an 11.8 clip.
Chesapeake is 13-6 on the season and led by Natalee Hall and Dominique Murphy.
Ashland has been riddled by injuries but has shown improvement in recent weeks and is now 9-12 on the season including 6-7 in the 16th Region.
Ironton is 15-4 and has a balanced lineup led by 5-10 freshman sensation Lexie Arden and long-range shooting senior guard Sydney Webb. Point guard Lexi Wise and guard Alyssa Lewis can both score and provide excellent defense.
Freshmen Taiya Hamlet and Riley Schreck have also made key contributions to the team’s success.
Admission is $7 for all five games.
