The Tribune group of newspapers launched its redesigned website Wednesday evening.

Online readers will continue to have access to all the same features as before with more content and options to be added soon.

“We are excited about the changes to our website,” said Michael Caldwell, Tribune publisher. “We have taken a lot of feedback over the years and tried to implement some of that into a reader-friendly site that offers clean navigation options.”

“Of course, change can be scary, so we want everyone to give the site a chance and have patience as we work out any wrinkles that may arise.”

The site will feature daily updates of news, sports, opinion, obituaries, classifieds, advertising and more. It will remain a free service.

One thing that is also still a part of the site is the ability for readers to have a voice and post comments.

Users will need to re-register to make comments on the website. At the very top of the screen, below the masthead, they will see a bolded register link that they can click on. Once they have filled out the details, users will be e-mailed a temporary password that they can use. Once users log in for the first time, they will be able to go to their profile page and change their password to anything you want.

“Online comments are a lightning rod issue. People either love them or hate them,” Caldwell said. “We believe that, when used properly, this forum provides feedback and commentary that is reflective of the community. We will strictly enforce our terms of use and remove users who don’t play by the rules.”

Also, the daily e-mail EXTRA will be coming from a different e-mail address now through a company called Constant Contact. Users do not need to sign up again but will need to make sure to check their e-mail folders so the e-mail doesn’t get flagged as spam or moved to a junk folder.
