WILLOW WOOD — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings decided to get pretty offensive, so they offended the Western Lady Indians defense.

The Lady Vikings turned in their best offensive performance of the season with a 61-49 Southern Ohio Conference win Thursday.

Symmes Valley had four players in double figures and shot 51 percent from the field.

“We played our best game offensively,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Lisa Bryant. “Overall I was pleased with our performance. We have to decrease our turnovers and find our way on the defensive end, especially before the tournament.”

Senior Ada Humphrey had 12 points and 10 rebounds in her final home game. Kayla Hayes scored 22 points to go with six assists and three steals.

Malenna Davis scored 11 points, Megan Johnson contributed 10 points and nine rebounds while Kalli Hunt grabbed 11 rebounds.

Hayes scored 10 points and Davis added five as Symmes Valley took a 21-17 first quarter lead.

The Lady Vikings went up 31-26 at the half as Humphrey scored four points in the second quarter.

Hayes matched Western’s output in the third quarter with six points as the Lady Vikings extended their lead to 41-32.

Humphrey scored six more points in the fourth quarter and David and Johnson had four each as the Lady Vikings outscored Western 20-17.

“Humphrey played a heck of a game. She was not going to be denied a win in her last home game,” said Bryant.

Jessie Morris — the Lady Vikings other senior who missed half the season with a knee injury — made a token appearance early thanks to the cooperation of Western’s coach and the game officials.

Morris shot a foul shot and immediately left the game.

Symmes Valley (7-13, 6-8) plays Federal Hocking at 8 p.m. Monday in the Div. IV sectional at Athens.
