It’s game week.

Former Ironton head coach Bob Lutz always began game week on Sunday, so today begins the final preparations for Saturday’s benefit retirement dinner in honor of Lutz and long-time assistant and right-hand man Mike Burcham.

The dinner will be from 6-10 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall with proceeds to benefit the Ironton Turf Project.

There will be many auction items including some provided by coach Lutz. One of the prize items is an Ironton Fighting Tiger chair that was crafted by the hands of Darren Diamond.

A DVD of “Lutz and Burcham: A Winning Duo” will be available. The DVD was produced by Sam and Penny Heighton.

A separate video will be available with highlights of the 1972-2011 tenure including the state championship games.

For more information or to order those DVDs or previous Ironton games, contact Sam or Penny at (740) 532-7951.

The dinner offers finger foods, desserts, a cash bar, a 50/50 drawing and door prizes.

Tickets for the affair are $30 each or $50 per couple. Tickets are available at Ironton Physical Therapy, Ohio River Bank, Ironton High School, the Ironton School Board office and turf committee members.

If anyone is unable to attend but would still like to make a contribution, tax deductible donations can be made payable to Friends of Ironton and mailed to P.O. Box 4181, Ironton, Ohio 45638, or mail to Ironton Turf Project, c/o Ohio River Bank, Jodi Rowe-Collins, 221 Railroad Street, Ironton, Ohio 45638.
