WILLOW WOOD — By keeping up their intensity, the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings kept down New Boston’s scoring.
The Lady Vikings used an intense defensive effort to breeze past the New Boston Lady Tigers 67-15 Thursday in a Southern Ohio Conference 1 game.
“It was a good team effort. We worked in practice on keeping up our intensity and we played four quarters with intensity and that’s why we were so successful,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Brandon Walker.
Kalli Hunt had 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals to lead the Lady Vikings (7-10, 6-6). Kaitlyn Payne also scored 14 points to go with 7 steals and Taylor Michael had 12 points.
Hunt scored 7 points in the first quarter as Symmes Valley raced to an 18-2 lead.
Hannah Maynard and Michael scored 6 points each in the second quarter and the lead was 33-11 at the break.
The Lady Vikings held New Boston scoreless in the third quarter and Hunt had 7 more points to extend the lead to 48-11.
Payne scored 7 points, Michael had 6 and Malenna Davis had 4 points as the Lady Vikings outscored New Boston 19-4 in the fourth quarter.
