Ironton post gets new assistant commander

Trooper David W. Stuart was promoted to the rank of sergeant Tuesday by Col. John Born, patrol superintendent, during a ceremony at the patrol’s academy.

Stuart will transfer from his current assignment at the Portsmouth Post to serve as an assistant post commander at the Ironton Post.

Stuart began his care with the Ohio Department of Youth Services in November 2004. He began training as a member of the 145th academy class in June 2005.

He earned his commission the following year and was assigned to the Portsmouth Post, where he earned the Criminal Patrol Award every year from 2006 through 2009.

In addition, he was selected as Post Trooper of the Year in 2009.

In 2011 he returned to the training academy where he served as an instructor, before transferring to his most recent assignment at the Portsmouth Post in 2012.
