ROME TOWNSHIP — The Wyngate at RiversEdge is having its first community chili cook-off 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday.
“Over 30 businesses in the Proctorville area were invited to make chili, but anyone can be a part of it and bring a pot of chili,” Julie Poff, activities manager at Wyngate, said. “We are raising money for the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington.”
Tickets to taste the chili will be sold at the gate at a cost of five for $1, and the person or business with the most tickets wins the cook-off.
“We want to give back to the community,” Poff said. “We also want businesses, vendors and the community to see our facilities.”
The First Baptist Church of Proctorville helped get Wyngate started on fundraisers, she said.
Wyngate at RiversEdge is located at 7694 County Road 1.
Anyone interested in making a pot of chili for the cook off can contact Poff at 740-867-2500.
