SP village council meets for March

SOUTH POINT— South Point Council had its monthly meeting on Tuesday evening at the village hall where there were a number of topics on the agenda.

The South Point Council approved giving $3,500 to People for the Point to go toward fireworks for this year’s July 4th Party in the Park.

Mike Boster with the Emergency Management Association advised the council that the village has a system in place to transmit emergency or timely information for things such as water breaks and boil water advisories over the phone to residents.

Someone from the council will be going to his agency to get trained sometime in the near future.

Council also had first reading of a new golf cart ordinance.

A deal to allow People for the Point to take over daily operations of the local community center is in process. More information on this deal will be discussed at next month’s meeting.

There will be an open house at South Point’s new village hall located at 415 Solida Road. The event will be from 6- 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 14.

Everyone is welcome to attend and light refreshments will be available.
