PROCTORVILLE — Members of VFW Post 6878 will spend today digging up ramps as they will begin to prepare for the annual ramp dinner Saturday, a tradition that has been going strong since the 1980s.

“We’ll start digging the ramps at 9 a.m., then we’ll clean them on Friday and cook them on Saturday for the dinner,” Warren Napier, post commander, said. “We usually average around 150-200 people. People come from all over for this”

The onion-like plant will either be served with potatoes or by itself along with beans, corn bread, coleslaw and a beverage.
