“We’re going to promote some specialties and food of local restaurants, bakers and caterers for people to come out and sample what Ironton has to offer,” Steve Call, Ironton aLive promotions committee member, said. “It’s also a chance for the restaurants to show off what they have.”

Admission is free, although prices to taste items will range from $1-$4. Tickets are needed to obtain samples and can be purchased at Printing Express, Pack Horse and at the festival.

The event is cash only, but ATM machines will be available.

In addition to the Taste of Ironton, there will be live music, inflatables provided by BC Tool and Party Rental and other family oriented activities while the farmers market is going on at the same time.

“I’ve seen similar things done in other places and I thought it would be a nice thing to do here in Ironton,” Call said. “It will be a good, fun, family oriented activity. Something everyone can enjoy.”

Call said about 15 vendors are signed up for the Taste of Ironton including Frogtown, Toro Loco, Transit Café and Peddler’s, with more being added every day.

Ironton aLive was created as a way to generate greater business involvement with organizations already working toward the revitalization of Ironton.

“I would be thrilled for a couple hundred people at the event,” Call said. “It’s going to be a great time and we’re really looking forward to it.”

The event will go on rain or shine.
