PEDRO— Wayne National Forest officials obtained the needed five clean water samples from Lake Vesuvius to re-open the lake.

A recent high bacteria count was discovered on June 22 that closed the beach area of the lake. Samples of the lake are taken on the 22nd of each month.

“The lake is open as of today,” Carol Boll of the Wayne National Forest Ironton Ranger District, said. “Hopefully it will be able to stay open from now until the end of the summer.”
