Ironton High School closed for bomb threat

An anonymous email containing a bomb threat against Ironton High School late Monday evening has closed the school today.

“Ironton High School principal Joe Rowe was made aware of the email and superintendent Dean Nance decided to shut down the school today,” Ironton Police Chief Dan Johnson said.

Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless said his office is assisting the Ironton Police Department with the investigation.

“We’re currently tracking down the IP address to locate who may have sent the threat,” Lawless said. “The investigation is ongoing.”

Ironton Elementary School and Ironton Middle School are open today.
