Probation violations also on common pleas docket

Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Charles Cooper sentenced an Ironton man on Thursday who nearly hit Ironton Elementary School students with his van almost a month ago.

Teejay Seagraves, 29, of 603 Cliff St., was arrested on March 3 by the Ironton Police Department after driving erratically around North Second Street near the school. When Seagraves was arrested, he was found to have approximately five grams of methamphetamine on him.

On Thursday, Seagraves pleaded guilty to second-degree aggravated trafficking in drugs and resisting arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor.

Cooper sentenced him to four years in prison with three years post-release control, a one-year drivers license suspension, $7,500 fine and court costs.

In other cases:

• Morgan Gibson, 25, of 1596 County Road 18, South Point, pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a first-degree misdemeanor. Judge Bowling sentenced her to 180 days in jail with credit for time served of 61 days and a 119-day drivers license suspension.

• Donald Spears, 39, of 1203 Stella Drive, Ashland, Kentucky, pleaded not guilty to third-degree tampering with evidence and resisting arrest. Bowling set pretrial for April 20. Spears was also appearing on a community-controlled sanctions violation, which was continued.

• Kayla Barry, 24, of 20 Private Drive Apt. 18, Chesapeake, admitted to community-controlled sanctions violations. Bowling extended CCS for one year.

• Joseph Earwood, 33 of 1200 Private Drive, Ashland, Kentucky, previously pleaded guilty to fifth-degree receiving stolen property. Bowling sentenced him to four years community controlled sanctions with intensive supervised probation with 11 months reserved andfour years post-release control and 200 hours of community service.

• Jarrod Casey, 27, of 107 Center St., Coal Grove, admitted to community controlled sanctions violations. Bowling sentenced him to three years in prison, however, the court will consider judicial release after 18 months.

• Joseph Sharp, 25, of 1123 S. Fifth St., Ironton, admitted to community-controlled sanctions violations. Bowling sentenced him to 12 months in jail.

• Trina Collier, 47, of 24 Private Drive 8380, Chesapeake, appeared for fifth-degree deception to obtain a dangerous drug. Bowling set bond at $10,000 OR and $50,000 property. Pretrial is set for April 20.

• Summer Short, 36, of 91 Township Road 61, Proctorville, admitted to community-controlled sanctions violations. Bowling sentenced her to five months in prison.

• Matisha Leach, 30, of 59 Rosita Lynn Drive, Point Pleasant, West Virginia, admitted to community-controlled sanctions violations. Cooper sentenced her to 15 months in prison.

• During a resentencing hearing, Evelyn Robinson, 47, of 14077 Manning Street, Detroit, Michigan, pleaded guilty to first-degree possession of drugs with major drug offender status. Cooper sentenced her to 11 years in prison with five years post-release control and a two-year drivers license suspension.

• Brody Green, 27, of 66 Township Road 1419 Apt. 3, Proctorville, admitted to community-controlled sanctions violations. Cooper sentenced him to eight months in prison.

• Zachary Miller, 26, of #5 Lawson Court, Huntington, West Virginia, admitted to community-controlled sanctions violations. Cooper sentenced him to three years in prison with credit for time served since March 1.

• Lawrence Jenkins, 53, of 1119 S. Third St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree possession of drugs. Cooper set sentencing for April 13 due to personal matters. Until then, Jenkins is out on bond with GPS monitoring.

• Clarence Bryant, 35, of 643 County Road 68, Chesapeake, denied community-controlled sanctions violations. Cooper set trial for April 13.

• Bryce Butcher, 19, of 3931 County Road 6, Kitts Hill, pleaded not guilty to third-degree vehicular assault and driving under the influence, a first-degree misdemeanor. Cooper set bond at $10,000 cash or surety and $10,000 property. Pretrial is set for April 13.
