Two games on Monday proved to be too much for the Ironton Fighting Tigers.

After losing two games at Gallipolis on Monday, a sluggish Fighting Tigers could muster only one hit as they lost 10-0 to the Huntington St. Joseph Fighting Irish on Tuesday.

Charles White pitched the one-hitter with seven strikeouts, no walks but three hit batsmen.

Jake Isaac had a leadoff single in the fourth inning for Ironton’s only hit.

“White pitched well. He mixed up his pitches well and kept our hitters off-balance,” said Ironton coach Larry Goodwin.

Ethan Duncan went six innings in his first high school start. He struck out nine, walked one and only six of the 9 runs he allowed were earned.

The Irish got two runs in the first inning on a passed ball and a ground out.

They scored twice in the third on hits by White and Beter, a stolen base, a throwing error and a ground out.

St. Joseph got two more runs in the fourth on an error and hits by Adams and White.

A hit batsman and singles by Tolliver and Hawks made it 7-0 in the fifth.

The lead was 9-0 in the sixth after Piaskowski doubled, White singled, Beter reached on an error and Murphy singled.

The final runs scored in the seventh as Hawkins tripled and scored on a passed ball.

Ironton visits Fairland on Wednesday.
