Hot rod show, wine festival and more

The second annual Ironton Heritage Festival, hosted by Ironton aLive, is set for Saturday at the Ironton Farmers Market Square. The event begins at 10 a.m. and will feature something for everyone.

More than 20 artisans will be on hand showing a variety of handy work from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and live entertainment will be provided all day.

Beginning at 10 a.m., Wiley Dew is set to perform, followed by Travis Williams demonstrating his carving skills with a chainsaw at noon.

The dance team of Cyndi’s Dance Studio will perform from noon-1 p.m. and Ironton native Bob Houston and the Scioto Ridge Boys gospel group from Columbus will begin singing at 2 p.m.

Also part of the Heritage Festival is the second annual Home Built Hot Rod and Chopper Show from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. as well as the Ohio River Wine Festival wine tasting event at the Holiday Inn Express and suites from noon-5 p.m.

Tickets for the Ohio River Wine Festival are $30 per person, and admission includes a souvenir seven-ounce wine glass and six wine sampling tickets. Extra sample and full five-ounce pour tickets will be available for purchase.

Wineries involved with the wine festival include Merry Family Winery, Valley Vineyards, Meranda Nicon Winery, O’Bannon Creek Vineyard, Heini’s and The Winery at Versailles. Ironton aLive member Mike Pearson organized the wine festival and is chairing the event.

The regular Farmers Market will be open during the festivities as well.

“Although the Farmers Market Square will be busy with the Ironton Heritage Festival Saturday, the farmer’s market vendors you have gotten to know will still be offering their Fall items such as pumpkins and gourds of all colors, sizes and shapes,” Sam Heighton, executive director of Ironton aLive, said.

“Some summer produce is still available as well as baked goods, honey, homemade items and fresh eggs. Come join us and enjoy the market, the Heritage Festival, wine festival and hot rod show on Saturday.”

The Farmers Market is a project of Ironton aLive and sponsored by Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
