Local groups receive donations
More than $27,000 was recently donated to local charities, schools and non-profits by the Ironton Moose Lodge through the Ohio State Gaming Commission by gambling at the lodge.
“At the end of the year, we donate 25 percent of what we make, and that all goes locally,” Jerry Walker, treasurer and past governor of the lodge, said. “This year, $44,663.30 was the total donated, and out of that, $27,691.24 was donated locally. The difference goes to Moose International and the Ohio State Moose Association.”
The money is made through pool tips, Keno and some state regulated machines at the lodge.
The City Welfare Mission, Coal Grove Little League, Mended Reeds, the Ironton Police and Fire Departments, Tank Memorial Stadium, Rock Hill, Ironton and Fairland Schools, the Ironton Health Department, the Friends of Ironton and local Boy Scouts are just some of the recipients of the money.
